Open‑Editions

A Holiday Pop-Up

December 2  — December 23, 2017

Open–Editions, a San Francisco-based producer of art and design objects, is holding a pop-up shop at Civilization before the holidays. Civilization will be unveiling our exclusive collection — Social Studies — created for Open-Editions. The collection is a reflection of the forms that are found in the natural, built and social environments.

Open Editions

Open-Editions commissions artists to design goods produced by local factories. Founded in 2015 by artist Lauren DiCioccio and designer Braden Weeks Earp, Open-Editions has collaborated with artists on objects ranging from bags and blankets to fortune cookies. Open-Editions sells these editions through a network of museum stores, independent design shops, and pop-ups hosted by five contemporary art fairs each year, including the Seattle Art Fair.

Civilization

Civilization is a design practice that works with causes, clients and partners that share their commitment for creating positive change. They do this by building identity systems, digital experiences, printed materials, environmental graphics and exhibitions. Through hosting workshops, lectures, their interview series–Beyond This Point, and their non-profit gallery, Non-Breaking Space, they hope to inspire conversation and connection. They are the recipient of the National Design Award for Communication Design from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Webby Award for Best Activist Website. Their internationally recognized work is included in the permanent collection of SFMOMA and the Milton Glaser Design Archives at SVA.
